The project is derived from traditional hand crafts and explored weaving, braiding and kitting techniques in the creating of new architectural aesthetics. The research developed a singular component which can be stretched, bent and joined into continuously differentiated conditions. The design creates a striking balance between the structural grid and the soft piped strands that embellishes it. This system allows for a deep, spatial ornament that would be difficult and expensive to achieve through commonly utilised digital fabrication techniques.
